- Goals: Is the team aware of its goals? Has the team measured how to accomplish the assigned tasks? How does slippage of goals get reflected in a team? How are successes and failures in meeting goals measured internally?
- Control: Does the team feel empowered to control its decision making process? To what extent do team members feel empowered to take decisions? Are they pro-active in pursuit of practical solutions?
- Accountability: How does the team’s reporting relationship and accountability affect the organization? Do team members hold teams as accountable or members as accountable to meet project timelines? What kind of planning does the organization undertake to optimize opportunities for self-management and career growth among organization members?
- Group Development: Does the team understand how group development is important for team work? Are team members working together with effective interpersonal relationships? Do the team members understand the roles and responsibilities of all the team members? Has the team determined its own rules of conduct in areas on consensus decision making and strategy development?
- Communication: Are team members able to communicate with maximum output? Are good practices shared clearly? Are diverse opinions debated upon? Are necessary conflicts or queries brought out to be addressed in the open?
- Creative Innovation: Are teams focused on creative thinking and innovation? How is this accomplished? Does it reward individuals or teams to make innovative and creative improvements?
- Consequences: Do team members take responsibility for team achievements and team failures? Is in fighting an issue? Is reasonable risk appreciated in the organization? What does responsibility and consequence represent to the new generation of team members?
With this check list, it is a sure sign that team work will be more structured, defined and innovated to optimize business success.
